How to Become a Pranic Healer: Basic Pranic Healing Class Recap

If you have ever wondered how to become a Pranic Healer, this post is for you.  I recently took the first class, Basic Pranic Healing, in Langhorne, PA.  It was an exciting class and I’m here to tell you all about it!

how to become a healer

Pranic Healing is an incredibly detailed and comprehensive energy healing modality.  Founded by Grand Master Choa Kok Sui, Pranic Healing really gets into the nitty-gritty of energy healing techniques.  It gives you step-by-step protocols, or recipes for healing, for ailments and conditions.  While not covered in the basic class, Pranic Healing also teaches you how to use colors and crystals to super-charge the healing process.  There are classes for healing psychological conditions and for protecting your energy from negative influences.

Talk about thorough, right?

This is exactly why I wanted to learn Pranic Healing.  It takes a significantly different approach to healing than reiki does.  As to how it is different, I will do a separate post shortly.  But I’m psyched to explore Pranic Healing and hope that you are, too!

This post is all about my experiences at the Basic Pranic Healing class, the first step in how to become a Pranic Healer.

[I apologize that I completely forgot to take any pictures at the class for this post.  I will not forget to take action pictures next time!]

How to Become a Pranic Healer

I got introduced to Pranic Healing through word of mouth in my meditation circles.  But it turns out that I already know some of its techniques.  My reiki mastership teacher at Muktinath Holistic Center had incorporated them into her teachings.  Her teacher, who is located in Australia, had studied with Grand Master Choa before he passed.

The fact that I’d already experienced how effective its techniques are really fueled my interest.  But Pranic Healing is not as well known as reiki.  Navigating how to get started took a while.

So, in this post, I will cover the logistics of how I made my way into the Basic Pranic Healing class.  I’ll also share what it was like personally for me, and provide a very high-level summary of what the class covered.

Logistics Summary

Finding a Class

Pranic Healing, as an organization, is decentralized.  There are currently eight Master Pranic Healers who are leading its teachings around the world.  And they have divided their influence by geography, which has implications for where you might look if you want to find a class near you.

Within the United States:

  • If you live in the Western half of the United States, go to PranicHealing.com.  This region is led by Master Stephen Co, who has his own website and leads free meditations online.  Chatter about Master Co’s powerful meditations is how I first heard of Pranic Healing.  He also has a robust Youtube presence, and I regularly follow his Twin Hearts Meditation.

  • If you’re like me and live in the Eastern half, you’d go to PranicHealingUSA.com.  This region is led by Master Glenn Mendoza, MD, and Master Marilag Mendoza.

Outside the United States, you can find classes through the World Pranic Healing Foundation (India), The Pranic Healers (Africa), Institut Pranic Healing Switzerland, Pranic Healing Greece, Institute of Pranic Healing UK & Ireland, and so on.

So, depending on where you live, you may have a short drive to your class or you may have to fly.

Costs

There are several costs to consider, including tuition, travel, lodging and books.

  • Tuition: The Basic Healing Class tuition was about $450 for two full days of instruction.  I saved $25 for registering early.  Similar rates seemed to apply for more advanced classes, or slightly higher at the time of this writing.  Some instructors offered bundle pricing if you register for multiple classes, such as for Basic, Advanced and Psychotherapy courses.  This made the classes much more affordable. But I couldn’t take advantage of it due to location and timing of what was offered.

  • Travel: For me, it was about 2.5-hour drive from Connecticut to a class in Pennsylvania.  My travel costs included gas and tolls (New Jersey tolls are notorious!).

  • Lodging:  Depending on where you live, you may have to find lodging.  I had to stay at a hotel, which added to my expenses.

  • Books: I also purchased the accompanying text book titled, Miracles Through Pranic Healing, through Amazon.  Books are not provided by classes.  I got the bundle that also includes books for advanced, psychotherapy and crystal healing.  That, at the time of this writing, is about $105.  It is much more expensive to buy the books separately.  You could also try searching used book sellers for old copies. My sense is that any updates have not been significant.  But the books are immensely helpful because they contain the healing protocols for specific conditions.

That summarizes the logistical side of Basic Pranic Healing.  Next, I cover what it was like taking the class.

Usual Doubts

Whenever I take on a new, energy-related class or venture, I feel nervous and doubtful if I’m doing the right thing.  It’s funny if you think about it.  What is the “right” thing?

For me, it’s definitely about the question, if I’m appropriately spending my time and resources, that tugs at my gut.  I have two little kids, one for whom I have to do most of the cooking because of his body’s allergies.  Whenever I go away, which is not often, I feel nervous.  I also feel guilty leaving them with my husband, who doesn’t even believe in any of this stuff.  But he is happy to let me pursue my interests.  How lucky am I, right?

So, I fill my refrigerator with pre-made meals and treats for them to enjoy during my absence.  I also remind myself why I’m doing this.

Commitment

In addition to my general interest in energy work, I’m eager to use Pranic Healing techniques to help my son’s body heal from food allergies and respiratory conditions.  We’ve recently made some significant progress by improving the air quality of our home.  We’re also working with a naturopath and a nutritionist to improve his body’s response to all the stuff in the environment.

As a reiki master, I’m also very aware of the energy side of this effort.  I’m determined to do everything that I can.

Moreover, sometimes I feel like the energy of something calls to you.  Energetic alignments construct this entire world. When you live your life in search of something, that something will make itself known to you if you’re paying attention.  This is what it feels like with Pranic Healing.

I’m not sure if that means that I’ll eventually become a master of Pranic Healing.  Maybe I’ll just take this basic class and get what I need.  But I won’t know until I get there and experience it.

That’s why I pack my bags and hug my children good-bye, to start my way to try something new.

Learning to Scan, Cleanse and Energize

A teacher who runs Pranic Healing Bucks County (of PA) taught my Basic Pranic Healing class.  The class took place at a teaching space inside a crystal shop at a mall, which surprised me when I signed up.  Malls are not considered to be the purest of energetic amalgams.  But I had felt a pull toward her when I heard this teacher being interviewed on a podcast

I also learned that this chapter of Pranic Healers had ongoing online healing and meditation events throughout the week.  This was huge, because I knew that I’d need regular practice and some sort of feedback in order to get any good at Pranic Healing.

Interesting People

As I entered the room in the morning of the first day, I saw about ten students sitting casually in chairs.  Most were either my age—which is to say mid-life—or older.  A a mother and daughter pair joined us later in the day, and the daughter was in college.

My fellow students represented many different walks in life.  A minister, a former landscape contractor who would soon come to feel energy spiraling in his palms, a retired engineer who’d benefited from Pranic Healing for years and finally decided to learn for himself, a mom with a troubled daughter at home, a massage therapist and a hypnotherapist.  A couple of others were volunteers who had already take the class and then some, but helping out and reviewing the class.

With a side table full of snacks and water, and a big presentation screen on one wall, the class began.

Teachings Summary

Much of the learning involved instructions presented in a PowerPoint, which I understand is standard for all basic classes.  There are a LOT of details in Pranic Healing and lots of do’s and don’ts.  But we also did plenty of hands-on practices to feel energy and actually conduct the healings.

Here is a summary of materials covered in class.

  • Pranic energy is the primary life force that is generated from the sun.  Even though it is comparable to the “ki” in reiki or “chi,” my sense is that it is slightly different.  At the Basic class level, though, which works entirely with white light, it is comparable to general reiki.

  • Pranic Healing is composed of two primary techniques, sweeping and energizing.  We sweep, or cleanse, the area thoroughly to remove any congestion or depletion in the energy body.  We then carefully energize the cleansed parts with clean energy to strengthen it.  Pranic Healing is entirely hands-off and great for remote healings.

  • Twin Hearts Meditation, created by Master Choa Kok Sui, is the flagship meditation for Pranic Healing.  I’d practiced this meditation prior to class, and was already aware of its effectiveness.  The meditation does a lot of things, including creating good karma, energize chakras and establish heart-brain coherence.

  • We learned to feel energy with our hands.  Scanning the energy field is a component of Pranic Healing.  Some can do this readily while others take more time.  While I feel energy fine with my hands and my body, scanning has been tough for me.  But, as they say, it took Master Co four years to scan effectively.

  • We can also learn to see energy fields with our own eyes.  Some are said to be clairvoyant in this way.  I have always been able to see energy in the atmosphere.  But I’ve never seriously tried to see energy before.  During this class, I found myself distracted by being able to see the instructor’s inner aura even though I was not even trying to do so.  I wondered if it was because I was in a collective field in which this was considered truth, that my ability was strengthened.  Later, I also saw the inner aura of my fellow student’s hand expand as I sent it Prana.  This all came as a surprise to me.

  • Practice increases the level of energy that comes through, which means more responsibility for my thoughts and intentions.  I’ve heard of this concept before.  The bigger you grow as a tree, the bigger your shadow.  In this class, the discussion extended to what sounded to me like traditional notions of karma, which is to say, what you put out into the world will come back to you.

  • We practiced some basic protocols for everyday ailments.  We did protocols for respiratory ailments, digestive issues, general weakness and fever.  We practiced on each other and on our friends and family who were, obviously, not there.

Healed and Energized

Although this was only a two-day class, we already had a healing story!  One student had come to class Saturday morning with a brace on her left foot.  She had dropped something heavy on her foot weeks ago.  As a practice on the first day, the whole class cleansed and energized her foot following instructions from the teacher.

Next morning, the student came to class without the brace.  She felt no pain for the first time in weeks.  She’d seen a doctor the day before our class and they’d told her it would take weeks for her foot to heal.  It wasn’t 100 percent, she reported, but almost.

As for me, I felt super energized the entire weekend.

The first night at the hotel was interesting. I’d been up since 4:30 am to drive and had been in class all day, but did not feel tired.  I found myself alert until well past 10 pm, although I slept soundly when I did fall asleep.  On Monday morning, I also woke up at 3:30 am to start driving to Connecticut.  I felt fine to arrive home around 7 am, see the kids and make their school lunches.  After a full day of catching up on errands, I relaxed about 8 pm that night.

I did Pranic breathing most of the drive back home, which kept me energized.  It is curious to me how I could feel this much energy, since the class did not include “attunements,” or energy activations, like in reiki.  It must have been simply the intention to connect with Prana that allowed more energy in.

Well, I’m so glad that I actually felt this difference.  It serves as a validation for my time and effort taking the class.

Continuing Lessons

It has been about three weeks since the class. Since then, I have attended a “healing pod” organized by my teacher about once a week.  It is simply an online meeting, during which time Pranic Healers get together to work on their loved ones or strangers.

As I expected, the practice teaches me new things.  Small nuances that will make a big difference in the long run.  Also it’s keeping me plugged in to the energy, which I believe is important to grow with it.

I’m currently looking at the calendar to see when and where I can take the Advanced Pranic Healing class.  I’m also doing a protocol for healing allergies for my son twice a week.  I really am excited to learn more, and look forward to sharing the next part of my journey.

Please note below with any questions or comments, as I’d love to hear your thoughts!

This post was all about how to become a Pranic Healer, and I sure hope you enjoyed it.
